Practice on Two Shaddahs in One Word

تدريب على شدتين في كلمة

Some words contain two shaddahs. Both must be given their full weight neither may be skipped or weakened.

Double Shaddah Words

These words contain two separate doubled consonants. Read them slowly at first, confirming both doublings before increasing speed:

اَلضَّالِّينaḍ-ḍāllīn ḍād doubled, then lām doubled
شَتَّتَshattata tāʾ doubled in position two
تَبَتَّلْtabattal tāʾ shaddah + final lām sākin
اطَّلَعَiṭṭalaʿa ṭāʾ shaddah in the iṭṭ cluster
تَنَزَّلُtanazzalu zāʾ shaddah
أَعِزَّةٍaʿizzatin zāʾ shaddah + tanwīn

Key Concept: Each Shaddah Is Independent

Treat each shaddah as its own event close the letter, hold briefly (sākin), then release with the vowel. Two shaddahs in one word = two such events:

اَلضَّالِّين aḍ · ḍā · l · lī · na Event 1: ḍ closes and releases (ḍā). Event 2: l closes and releases with kasrah + madd (llī).
