How to Use This Lesson

Read every item below aloud first slowly, then at a steady pace. Your goal is to produce the correct vowel without hesitation. If you pause, repeat that word ten times before continuing.

Single Letters with All Three Vowels

Read across each row: fatḥah → kasrah → ḍammah → tanwīn fatḥ → tanwīn kasr → tanwīn ḍamm:

Qurʾānic Vocabulary Drill

All words below are from the Qurʾān. Read each one three times:

رَبٌّrabbun "a Lord"
نَفْسٍnafsin "of a soul"
عَمَلًاʿamalan "a deed"
حَسَنًاḥasanan "a good"
كِتَابٌkitābun "a book"
عَلِيمٌʿalīmun "All-Knowing"
رَحِيمٌraḥīmun "Most Merciful"
عَظِيمٌʿaẓīmun "Magnificent"

Progress Check

You are ready to move to Lesson 7 when:

  • You can read any letter with any of the six vowel marks without hesitation.
  • You can distinguish the "an / in / un" sounds of tanwīn instantly by looking at the mark.
  • The heavy letters (ص ض ط ظ) produce a noticeably deeper vowel than their light counterparts.
