Feminine Plural Pronouns and Time Words

هن أنتن

هُنَّ (they f pl) and أَنْتُنَّ (you f pl) complete the full pronoun table. Time vocabulary (today, tomorrow, yesterday) is also introduced.

دَرَسْنَا الْيَوْمَ سَنَدْرُسُ غَداً كَتَبْنَا أَمْسِ Darasnā l-yawma Sa-nadrusu ghadan Katabnā amsi We studied today. We will study tomorrow. We wrote yesterday.

Sample Dialogue

أ: مَاذَا تَكْتُبْنَ؟ ب: نَكْتُبُ الدَّرْسَ. أ: هَلْ تَدْرُسْنَ دَائِماً؟ ب: نَعَمْ، نَدْرُسُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ. A: Mādhā taktubna? B: Naktubu d-dars. A: Hal tadrusna dāʾiman? B: Naʿam, nadrusu kulla yawm. A: What are you (f pl) writing? B: We are writing the lesson. A: Do you always study? B: Yes, we study every day.
  • Book One pronoun system complete 13 forms across all persons, numbers, and genders.
  • غَداً is an accusative adverb (ẓarf al-zamān) the tanwīn fatḥ (ً) marks it.
  • أَنْتُنَّ vs أَنْتُمْ: the shaddah نَّ distinguishes feminine plural from masculine plural.
  • هُنَّ and أَنْتُنَّ both take ـْنَ suffix the initial يَـ vs تَـ prefix is the only distinction.
  • سَـ prefix (sa-) indicates the near future: سَنَدْرُسُ = we will study (soon).
