The Present Tense Verb Full Conjugation

The complete present-tense (مُضَارِع) table across all 13 persons. Four indicative endings mark the plural and dual forms. Mastering this table unlocks every present-tense verb in Arabic.

  • The four indicative endings: ـُ (sg/1pl), ـُونَ (3m pl), ـِينَ (2f sg), ـَانِ (dual).
  • These endings are in the indicative mood (رَفْع). In subjunctive/jussive they change.
  • يَكْتُبْنَ (3f pl) has sukūn the نَ is part of the form, not a case ending.
  • Subjunctive and jussive drop the final نَ from the five forms (أَفْعَال الْخَمْسَة): يكتبونيكتبوا, تكتبينتكتبي, يكتبانيكتبا.
  • The present tense prefix vowels يَـ تَـ أَـ نَـ follow person/gender; the stem vowel pattern (a-u, a-i, a-a) is fixed per verb and must be memorised.
